RK 520 XRE Sealed Chain
The XRE is RK's sealed chain in the 520 pitch. It uses an X-ring seal design to retain lubrication and reduce friction and wear at the chain joints. Tensile strength is rated at 8,200 lb / 36.5 kN. The chain comes pre-cut to length and includes a rivet-style master link. Finish is natural.
Matched Kit
Chain and sprocket pitch must always match — a 520 chain requires 520 sprockets. This kit is built as a matched set, so pitch compatibility is handled. Mixing chain and sprocket sizes from different pitches causes poor fitment and accelerated wear.

Gearing — Staying Stock or Making a Change
This kit matches the stock 15-tooth front and 46-tooth rear on the Ninja 650 and Z650. Installing it keeps your bike at factory stock gearing.
If you are considering a gearing change, here is the general framework. Going one tooth smaller on the front shortens gearing — quicker acceleration, higher RPM at highway speeds, reduced top speed. The effect is roughly equivalent to adding two to three teeth to the rear sprocket. Going one tooth larger lengthens gearing — lower cruise RPM, softer pull from a stop.
Stock gearing on these bikes is well matched for general street use. Neither direction is right or wrong — it depends on how and where you ride.
