Wheels
- Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R / 636 2013–2026
Lead time: These wheels are manufactured to order. Standard colors ship in approximately 5–6 weeks. Some colors and finishes have different lead times — see the color list below.
Product Overview
This is a complete front and rear forged aluminum wheel set for the 2013–2026 Kawasaki ZX-6R and 636. Both wheels arrive fully assembled with all spacers, bearings, rotor carriers, cush drive system, and 90-degree black aluminum valve stems installed. The only items you supply are tires and OEM brake rotors.
No modification to the bike is required. These wheels bolt directly onto the 2013–2026 ZX-6R platform.
What this listing includes as configured:
- Your choice of wheel color at checkout — see the full color list below
- Premium steel bearings
- One free black aluminum sprocket matching your stock tooth count and OEM chain pitch
- Gloss Black rotor and sprocket carriers
The Apex-6 requires a custom 5-bolt sprocket — it does not use the stock Kawasaki sprocket bolt pattern, and it is not a Kawasaki pattern. The required bolt pattern is a common aftermarket forged wheel standard used by most major sprocket manufacturers and is widely available. The free OEM-spec sprocket included with this listing covers that requirement. If you want a non-stock tooth count or a different chain pitch, contact us before ordering.
Note on speed sensor rings: The ZX-6R application may include Core Moto speed sensor rings for one or both wheels, or may require reuse of your OEM rings depending on your specific configuration. This varies by application. If your ABS or traction control setup is a concern, contact us before ordering and we can confirm exactly what your bike requires.
Note on anodized color: Anodizing is a surface treatment applied to the aluminum itself — it is not paint or powder coat. Shade can vary slightly between production batches. Wheel sets are anodized as a matched front and rear pair, so color consistency within a set is close, though minor variation under 5% is possible. In most cases this is undetectable once the wheels are mounted on the bike. Core Moto does not offer custom color matching — their anodized shades are batch-produced to Core Moto's own standards. If you need a specific custom color not listed, Raw/Uncoated wheels are available and can be painted or powder coated independently — note that this option voids the factory warranty.

Key Technology & Design
Monolithic hub construction. The Apex-6 is a one-piece forged wheel — the bearing housing and cush drive system are integrated directly into the wheel body rather than using a separate bolt-on hub. Core Moto states this approach produces greater rigidity and lower weight compared to multi-piece hub designs.
Proprietary forging process. Core Moto uses model-specific forging dies rather than generic blanks shared across multiple applications. Each wheel starts as an aluminum billet, heated and shaped under a 6,000-ton constant-pressure hydraulic forge to establish the hub and spoke profile with optimized grain flow. A cold spin process then forms the rim section. After forging, blanks are heat treated and finish-machined by 3-axis and 5-axis CNC equipment using carbide and diamond tooling. Constant-pressure forging produces more controlled and consistent grain flow than drop forging. Core Moto wheels are not drop forged.
Bearings. This listing is configured with premium steel bearings sourced from verified top-tier manufacturers. Core Moto states their bearings are in most cases larger and wider than stock. For the Apex-6, most rear applications use 3x B6006 bearings and most fronts use 2x B6205. Replacement part details are included in the exploded view diagram shipped with the wheels. WWB ceramic hybrid bearing upgrades are available — contact us if you are interested in that option.
Cush drive system. The rear wheel uses a 5 or 6-pot cylindrical cush drive system. Current production bushings are a single bonded hardened steel and rubber unit developed and refined since 2016.
Sprocket carrier. The Apex-6 uses a 5-bolt anodized CNC aluminum sprocket carrier with pressed-in studs, metal locking sprocket nuts, a bearing retaining ring, and a bearing included. The stud design has been revised for improved load distribution and corrosion resistance. Carriers on this listing are Gloss Black standard — custom carrier colors available by special order.
Rotor carriers. Carriers are mounted with stainless steel hardware and accept OEM and most aftermarket rotors and rotor bolts. Hardware material is chosen to avoid interference with wheel speed sensor pickups. OEM rotors fit this application — no special rotors are required.
Speed sensor rings. See the note in the Product Overview section regarding ZX-6R speed sensor ring compatibility — this application may require reuse of OEM rings for one or both wheels.
Valve stems. 90-degree aluminum valve stems in black are installed on both wheels.
Parts diagram. An exploded view diagram is included with the wheel kit. Use it to confirm you received the correct parts and to identify replacement part numbers in the future if anything is lost or damaged.
Certifications. DOT and JWL certified. One year limited warranty. Core Moto states these wheels have been tested by an accredited laboratory to exceed JASO/DOT/JWL standards. Approved for street and track use.
Unsprung and rotational mass. Wheels sit below the suspension — reducing their weight allows the suspension to respond more freely to surface inputs rather than working against the mass of the wheel itself. Reducing rotational mass decreases the energy required to accelerate and brake the wheel, which shortens braking distances and improves acceleration response. Gyroscopic forces are reduced at higher speeds, which lightens steering effort. Track riders and aggressive street riders will notice these effects. For casual street commuting the difference exists but may be subtle. Core Moto states the Apex-6 is on average 30–40% lighter than OEM wheels, though OEM weight figures vary by application.
Wheel care. Core Moto recommends Lemon Pledge and a microfiber cloth for routine cleaning of anodized surfaces. For heavier cleaning, use a mild, acid-free car wash soap. Do not use degreasers or acidic washes on anodized surfaces.
Cross-compatibility. In most cases Apex-6 wheels can be adapted to other bike models with replacement spacers, rotor carriers, and distance tubes. Cross-compatibility is model-specific and limited in some cases. Contact us if you are interested in using these wheels on a different platform.
Bent or cracked wheels. Core Moto does not recommend repairing a damaged wheel.
