Product Overview
This is a Vortex 16-tooth 525-pitch countershaft sprocket for the Suzuki GSX-R600 and GSX-R750. What this sprocket does depends on which bike you have.
GSX-R600 2001–present: The GSX-R600 runs a 16-tooth front sprocket stock throughout its entire run. This is a direct stock replacement — no gearing change required.
GSX-R750 2000–2007 and 2011–present: The GSX-R750 runs a 17-tooth front sprocket stock. This sprocket is one tooth under stock, which shortens gearing — quicker acceleration, higher RPM at a given speed, reduced top speed. The effect is roughly equivalent to adding two to three teeth to the rear sprocket. Most riders will notice this change.
Key Technology & Design
Vortex makes this sprocket from steel, induction-hardened to precise tolerances for consistency and wear resistance. A corrosion-resistant plating is applied to the finished sprocket. The design includes radial lightening holes to reduce rotating mass. Natural finish.

Gearing — Staying Stock or Making a Change
For GSX-R600 riders, this sprocket is a straight stock replacement — no gearing change.
For GSX-R750 riders, this sprocket is one tooth under the stock 17-tooth front. Going one tooth smaller on the front shortens gearing — quicker acceleration out of corners, higher RPM at highway speeds, reduced top speed. The effect is roughly equivalent to adding two to three teeth to the rear sprocket. This is a noticeable change that most riders will feel. Track riders and aggressive street riders tend to favor shorter front gearing for sharper response. Riders who spend more time on the highway may prefer staying with stock.
Stock gearing on these bikes is well matched for general street use. Neither direction is right or wrong — it depends on how and where you ride.
