Gearing — Staying Stock or Making a Change
This sprocket is 16 teeth, which matches the stock front sprocket size on every bike in the Main Fitment table. Installing it returns your bike to factory gearing — no change to acceleration, top speed, or cruise RPM.
If you are considering a gearing change rather than a stock replacement, here is what the numbers mean in practice.
Going one tooth smaller on the front (to 15T) shortens gearing — quicker acceleration, higher RPM at highway speeds, reduced top speed. The effect is roughly equivalent to adding two to three teeth to the rear sprocket. Track riders and aggressive street riders will notice this. Riders who primarily commute or cruise highways may find stock gearing better suited.
Going one tooth larger on the front (to 17T) lengthens gearing — lower cruise RPM at speed, softer pull from a stop. More useful for riders doing long highway miles who want the engine turning more slowly at cruise.
Stock gearing on these bikes is well suited for general street use. Neither direction is right or wrong — it depends on how and where you ride.

Supersprox
SKU:1212-1451
Description:Supersprox 16-Tooth 525 Front Sprocket
Product Overview
This is a Supersprox 16-tooth 525-pitch countershaft sprocket covering a range of Yamaha MT and YZF sport and naked bikes. For every bike in the Main Fitment list, this is a direct stock replacement — same tooth count, same chain pitch as the factory setup, no gearing change required.
Key Technology & Design
Supersprox makes this sprocket from SCM-435 carbon steel, chosen for surface hardness and wear resistance. The sprocket is lightened with radial holes to reduce rotating mass. An ultra-hard surface layer — 0.5mm depth — is applied to reduce friction between the sprocket teeth and chain. Natural finish.
