Gearing — What Changes
Going one tooth smaller on the front shortens the gearing. You get quicker acceleration and higher RPM at highway speed, with some top speed given up. Adding teeth at the rear does the same thing, so this kit's 15/45 is a clearly shorter ratio than the stock 16/43. If you ride mostly highway miles, a stock-geared kit may suit you better. Ask us and we will point you to one.
A gearing change can change the chain length you need. We cut chain in house, so ask us if you want it worked out before you order.

Product Overview
RK’s 520 Aluminum Race kit for the 2007–2018 Ninja ZX-6R: a gold RK XW-ring chain, a Driven aluminum rear sprocket and a Driven steel front. RK gear it 15/45 against the bike’s stock 16/43, one tooth smaller on the front and two larger on the rear, for quicker acceleration.
The rear sprocket is 7075 aluminum, which is much lighter than steel and takes weight out of the rotating drivetrain. The trade is wear: aluminum wears faster than steel. The front sprocket, where wear is highest, stays steel.
The ZX-6R is a 520 bike from the factory, so this is a like-for-like chain size, not a conversion.
The master link is a rivet type. It is pressed closed with a chain tool, not clipped on by hand. If you are not set up to rivet a master link, have it done.
If your ZX-6R is a 2019 or later, this is not the listed kit for it. RK catalogue those years separately.
