Motul RBF 700 Factory Line Racing Brake Fluid — DOT 4, 500 ml
Product Overview
RBF 700 Factory Line is Motul's 100% synthetic racing brake fluid, for hydraulic brake and clutch systems. It is developed for the temperatures that carbon and ceramic racing discs generate, and it is certified to the US DOT 4 standard, which is why it is also rated for road use on high-performance vehicles.
The numbers are the point of this fluid. It has a dry boiling point of 637°F (336°C) and a wet boiling point of 401°F (205°C). For comparison, the minimums the standards set are 446°F dry and 311°F wet for DOT 4, and 500°F dry and 356°F wet for DOT 5.1. Motul measures the wet figure after adding 3% water to the fluid, which is the state brake fluid drifts toward as it absorbs moisture from the air over time.
Avoid mixing RBF 700 with polyglycol-based brake fluids, so plan on a full flush and bleed rather than topping up whatever is already in the system.
Never mix it with DOT 5. DOT 5 is silicone-based and is a different chemistry from DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1, despite the similar name. Also do not mix it with mineral-based fluid (LHM). If your bike calls for DOT 5 or a mineral fluid, this is not the fluid for it.
Key Technology & Design
High dry boiling point — It has a dry boiling point of 637°F (336°C), well above the DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 minimums, for hard, repeated braking on track.
High wet boiling point — It has a wet boiling point of 401°F (205°C) after 3% water contamination, above the DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 wet minimums.
100% synthetic — Motul's formulation for brake and clutch systems, amber in color.
Brakes and clutches — Suitable for hydraulically actuated brake and clutch systems.
Storage — Motul's instruction is to keep it in its original container, tightly closed, so it does not absorb moisture. Brake fluid damages paint and varnish, so wipe up spills straight away and rinse skin with water.
