Parts Unlimited YTZ8V Factory-Activated AGM Battery — 12V 7Ah
Product Overview
This is the Parts Unlimited house-brand battery in the YTZ8V case — the tall, narrow case Yamaha's YZF-R3 has used since 2015, and the one Honda moved the CBR500R into for 2019. Parts Unlimited rates it at 12 volts, 7 amp-hours and 120 cold cranking amps, in a case measuring 4-7/16" x 2-3/4" x 5-1/8" (113 x 70 x 130 mm), at 6 pounds, with the positive terminal on the right and the negative on the left.
It ships factory activated. The acid is already in it, it has been charged, and the case is sealed, so there is no acid pack to pour and no activation step before it goes in the bike. Parts Unlimited's instruction for a factory-activated battery is to charge it once a month whenever it is not in service, and that applies from the day it arrives.
A battery is matched to a bike by case size, terminal layout and polarity rather than by model name, which is why one part number covers the list below. If your CBR500R is a 2013–2018, it takes the larger YTZ10S case, not this one.
We also carry the BS Battery BTZ8V in the same case.
Key Technology & Design
