Alpinestars Supertech R10 Helmet — Arius — Gloss Black/White/Double Red
Product Overview
The Supertech R10 is Alpinestars' race-oriented helmet, built around a multi-layer carbon shell and a multi-density EPS liner system. It's ECE 22.06, DOT, and FIM homologated for street and track use. Alpinestars states internal testing showed the helmet exceeding ECE 22.06 impact limits by 37% in linear impacts and 65% in rotational/oblique impacts.
Key Technology & Design
Shell Construction
The outer shell combines a 3K high-density carbon layer, a uni-directional carbon layer, an aramid fiber layer, and a fiberglass layer, bonded together with epoxy resin. Alpinestars builds this in four shell sizes with four corresponding EPS liner sizes, so fit is matched to head size rather than relying on padding alone to take up the difference.
EPS Liner
The EPS liner is built in eight pieces across six density zones, positioned to handle impact energy differently depending on where on the helmet the impact occurs. The inner surface of the EPS is polished and coated to reduce friction against the comfort liner, which is intended to let the liner move independently of the rider's head during an oblique impact rather than transferring that rotational force directly.
A-Head Fitment System
Lets the helmet's height and angle on the head be adjusted, independent of shell/liner sizing.
Spoiler System
The rear spoiler uses a patented elastic-release design intended to detach under impact, which is engineered to reduce rotational energy transferred to the head rather than resisting the impact rigidly.
Aerodynamics
Alpinestars states the shape was developed using CFD simulation and wind tunnel/track validation, with a claimed drag reduction of up to 4.54%. Lateral winglets are included for stability, and the visor has turbulators for aero-acoustic performance. Track riders and high-speed street riders are more likely to notice aerodynamic differences like this than riders doing typical street speeds.
Ventilation
11 vents total: 7 intakes (3 in the chin bar, 4 on top) and 4 exhausts (2 lateral chin bar vents, 2 top-rear vents). The top vent has a central slider; chin vents are designed to direct airflow across the inside of the shield to help reduce fogging.
Shield
Optical Class 1, 3mm thick, anti-scratch and anti-fog coated, tool-less quick-release. A metal lock mechanism secures the shield closed. Pinlock-compatible; a Pinlock 120XLT lens is included.
Chin Bar
The lower profile is raised and shaped to clear the collarbone, with an extended EPP liner covered in a flexible rubber compound in that area.
Liner
Removable, washable, anti-microbial treated. Crown and neck pads are elastically connected across four panels for fit. Cheek pads include an emergency release system so medical staff can remove them without moving the helmet, and a channel for hydration tube routing.
